We welcome and accommodate children with special developmental disability, behavioral issue or a physical limitation. Dr. Sharif and her staff have special training in children who may require extra time and care for their dental visits. Our office is handicap accessible and our staff is experienced in the care and support of children with special needs. To meet your child’s unique needs, please talk to our staff about different options such as a pre-appointment visit to see the facility, the doctor and the exam room. This could help your child be more cooperative during the actual dental treatment.
Sometimes children are more anxious before or during dental treatment and require more support than a gentle, caring touch to feel comfortable. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a safe and effective sedative agent that provides analgesia and alleviates anxiety as well as helps with a strong- gag reflex.
Sometimes dental emergencies arise as a result of accidents in school, home, or playground. Broken teeth, knocked out teeth, severe injuries to the mouth and face need to be attended to right away. You may call the office during normal office hours for an emergency appointment. Our office has a dentistry for children on call that will take your emergency calls after hours.
